Book excerpt: Reprint of an 1894 pub. recounting the murder of Lizzie Peak by Wesley Warner, who had been married to a woman in Burlington, NJ, with whom he had four children. In 1890 he met Lizzie Peak and forsook his wife and children. When Lizzie Peak first met Wesley Warner she was living in Burlington as the mistress of Otho Bunting. Lizzie and Warner then moved to Brooklyn. Wesley was arrested for injuring a man in a barroom brawl, but was eventually freed. The couple occasionally returned to Burlington County, and because of her activities at the Mount Holly Fair he accused her of being unfaithful and murdered her out of jealousy. This pub. provides the substance of the testimony given at the trial and describes Warner¿s execution. Includes period photos.
