One morning, while Koffi eats breakfast at the kitchen table, his aunt, Tati Anazi, reminds him that it is his birthday. The newly turned nine-year-old, Koffi, is unhappy about the fact that he is nine and, instead, wishes that he would remain the same age. But, before Koffi heads off to school, Tati Anazi gives him a little knowledge about how growing up is one of the natural stages of life. Upon his return home from school, Koffi receives a special surprise; as he opens the door to his home. Many of his family members and friends were present, including Kwame, Kudjoe, Ekua, and Adia. As his birthday gift, his father gives him a new soccer ball, along with a new pair of cleats; Koffi is very happy. By the end of the day, Koffi is out playing soccer with his friends.
