Book excerpt: Educated during the American Army occupation in Japan, the author begins with her childhood memories describing the postwar era of Japan - how General MacArthur saved a doomed Japan and reformed it to a democratic nation. Having lived in Tokyo, she saw Japan's political, social and economic transformation, but women's traditional role did not progress. During 1970s she left Japan, became an expatriate, and studied Western Civilization at three universities abroad - Australia, Spain and Portugal, which resulted in her speaking four languages. She began her career as a photojournalist working for The Guardian newspaper of London; she covered the uprising of Portugal known as Carnation Revolution (1974-76). Upon moving to the United States residing in San Francisco, California, as a foreign-correspondent photojournalist she reported "gay revolution" and documented its events (late 1970s-80s). During 1980s she became a travelogue-photographer and traveled the world alone expensively. The author describes her experiences in different countries including many close-calls. After having a fatal automobile-accident, she opened up her mind to a different dimension - the life beyond the death and our connection with the universe - where did we come from and where are we going. Concerning the coming future, the author informs us to contemplate and understanding "our people, our planet, and our human awareness" as we enter to a UFO age in the 21st century. Life is a Wonderful Experience is adventurous, enlightening, fascination, and inspiring to readers of all walks of life.
