Book excerpt: I believe men are moved like a ship on the sea of life by two forces, which are not always working in concert. These forces are our heart and our soul. Whereas our mind provides logical processing of life's data and all our physical activities, it is the heart that adds feelings, desires and passion, and the soul that gives guidance for what is good or bad, right or wrong, wise or foolish. As a result, when the heart and soul are not in agreement, we have a struggle within us that dates back to Adam & Eve, Cain & Abel. This story reflects the struggles of one man's soul as he deals with broken promises-corporate and personal. It is told with the storyteller's license and the author's privilege of creating characters who, at times, act as he would like them to. Nevertheless, the story is based on real lives, events and struggles. If my story, or the events herein remind you of yourself, I hope they have a positive impact upon your life and help you learn the true beauty of forgiveness, grace and love. May you live for the possibilities of the future, rather than be bound by the reality of your past.
