Moses incorporates a wide range of black nationalist perspectives, including African American capitalists Paul Cuffe and James Forten, Robert Alexander Young from his "Ethiopian Manifesto", and more well-known voices such as those of Marcus Garvey, W. E. B. Du Bois, and others.
