J:Well, I just got my passport. So, now I have to apply for my student visa. G:It’s a good thing that I did my homework. I took care of that right away. J:Do you also already have a copy of your medical records? G:Yes. I even went for a checkup and got all my shots. J:Wow! You’re really prepared, aren’t you? G:I try to be. Now I just have to book my flight. J:Oh yeah, me too. Part A 行前準備 葛瑞絲：你出國前還有多少東西需要準備？ 雅各：嗯，我剛拿到護照，所以我現在得申請學生簽證。 葛瑞絲：還好我事先做了準備，所以馬上就把事情處理好了。 雅各：妳也已經有病歷影本了嗎？ 葛瑞絲：有啊，我還做了體檢，該打的針我也都打了。 雅各：哇！妳真的都準備好了，對吧？ 葛瑞絲：我盡量。現在，我只需要預訂機票。 雅各：喔對，我也要。 Part B: At a Homestay Jacob is talking to his homestay mom, Shirley. 雅各正在跟寄宿家庭的女主人雪莉講話。 (Jacob = J ; Shirley = S) J:Thanks for opening your home to me. S:We’re very glad to have you. J:I don’t want to trouble1 you, so I’ll keep to myself. S:That’s out of the question. You’re now part of our family, and we expect you to be present at every meal. J:Wow! That’s just like at my house. Maybe I won’t be homesick after all. S:How do you like your room? If the pillow’s too soft, let me know. J:Everything’s perfect! By the way, I have a gift for you. S:That’s very sweet. Thank you. M:I only have 12 because I also have a part-time job. How about you? G:I plan to complete my studies in three years, so I’m taking 18. M:That’s a lot! Aren’t you worried you’ll miss out on the college experience? G:What do you mean? M:College is the time to try new things and make connections. You find out more about yourself that way. G:I’m here for my degree, not fun and games. M:Well, there’s more to life than just studying.
