The Harmon and Gibson families show Thomas a good side of life that he never knew existed, thanks to his con artist parents. Years pass. James and Samantha perceive that Thomas¿ soul is tormented, in spite of wealth and a highly successful career. Why?The Civil War begins. James, now a Terre Haute physician, joins an infantry regiment. Thomas, an architect in Indianapolis, joins a cavalry regiment. Both are heroic, in spite of severe emotional stress. Near the end of the war, John Edwin and Maude are murdered in their mansion near the dark cabin. Who and why? Jeremiah and the local Sherriff solve the mystery. More evidence surfaces with regard to Murrow¿s disappearance over twenty years earlier. James and Thomas return home after the war and the latest murders. James and Samantha remain friends with Thomas, but should they keep his secret?
