It has been one of the main activities for DHuMAR research project; as such, it is the first volume of a series focused on the history of Medieval translation. This volume takes the question of textual transmission from the beginning of the Middle Ages until the break of Humanism and relies on the contributions of renowned specialists on the subject. Each work has been arranged in chronological order: the starting point is the first translations carried out in France, then in the Anglo-Saxon world, in the German and Nordic languages, and finally in the Mediterranean Basin, the Iberian Peninsula and Italy.
