The majority of parents are too much occupied to read books intended for children; the present list, therefore, is designed primarily to aid parents and other older people in selecting books for children, but it may also be used by the boys and girls themselves. This list is based upon one originally prepared by the following committee of the Boston Home and School Association: Edith Guerrier, Mrs. C. B. Perkins, Annie J. Reed, Katharine H. Shute, Alice M.
