Book excerpt: Excerpt from Proceedings of the School Committee of the City of Boston, 1892 The meeting for the organization of the Board of School Committee of the City of Boston, for this municipal year, was held in the School Committee Chamber, Mason-street building, on Monday, Jan. 11, 1892, being the second Monday in said month, at seven and one-half o'clock P.M. Present: all the members except Messrs. Burnham, Dunn, Elliott, Miss Hastings, and Mr. Whittemore. The Board was called to order by Mr. Charles E. Daniels, the senior member present. At the request of the Chair, prayer was offered by Rev. Solomon Schindler. The following members of the Board of last year continue in office, having unexpired terms: Messrs. Burnham, Daniels, Dunn, Elliott, Mrs. Fifield, Messrs. Gallagher, Green, Miss Hastings, Mrs. Keller, Messrs. McDonald, Mecuen, Murphy, Pettigrove, and Whittemore.
