A child reports to us thus: We always drink beer in my home. My father says water is no kind of a drink. The first time I drank beer it made me vomit, and I didn't like it at all. But I have got so now that I like it. I have a glass every night On Sunday I have a glass of wine. The boy was 10 years of age, a piteous undernourished child. He is but one of a great legion of children in whose homes water is looked askance upon as a slaker of thirst. Exactly how widespread this juvenile wine-bibbing is cannot be discovered accurately. Certain it is, however, that among the foreign element in the tenement districts of our cities it is practically universal.
