Book excerpt: In recent years attempts to improve the performance of nozzle, rotors, compressors, airfoil sections, wings, and airplanes have revived research efforts in transonic aerodynamics. The present investigation describes various aspects of transonic flow calculations by a relaxation method. Of primary interest are techniques to reduce computational times for three-dimensional flows. Solutions of the small disturbance and full three-dimensional potential flow equations are obtained for two- and three-dimensional geometries. Several different geometries are considered.
