Darry herself is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and a member of the Deaf community, raised with the challenges of Deaf people in Bulgaria. She is also a qualified Deaf therapist and Sign Language interpreter. All proceeds of the book sales go towards supporting the development of the Academy and its efforts to offer a wider range of high quality affordable educational opportunities for deaf children in Bulgaria. The book series is a way to raise awareness about deafness and acceptance, to promote the cause for affordable deaf education, and to subsidize the costs of the Academy by socially oriented entrepreneurship. The Adventures of Andy and Aya series tell the story of two incredible toys who come to life with the magic help of their owner - Dara. Dara is an extraordinary girl who is also deaf. The two toys go through everyday adventures and struggles of what it is like to be deaf together with Dara. The book teaches acceptance, tolerance and love and shows that there is magic in everyday life. The first book of the series, Unordinary Meeting, is the story of how the friends meet and how they come to life. If you buy the book, you will be supporting the Andy and Aya Academy for deaf kids in Bulgaria and helping promote acceptance of deaf people all over the world.
