Place and community were always an emphasized part of his life, but it was not until Newt moved to Prescott, Arizona, that he began to fully realize the importance of becoming a part of the landscape and developing a true sense of place. Newts book grew out of a desire to better understand his new home, and provided him with a better foundation for making decisions regarding this home. Along the way he recorded an amazing story of a community rich in myths and truths, and the forest that made it all possible.
